Traffic calming is the process of making alterations to the existing asphalt to make drivers aware of pedestrians, therefore saving lives. Areas where pedestrian travel exists should contain traffic calming products to slow down drivers and increases their overall awareness. In addition to creating awareness, many traffic calming products increase the surface friction level to enable drivers to come to a complete stop faster. Crosswalks, driveways, bike paths, walk paths, sharp turning areas, bridges, and road shoulders are great candidates for traffic calming products.
