An example using the above chart is as follows. If your parking lot has 173 parking spaces, your requirements would be to have a total of 6 accessible spaces as follows: 1 – Van Accessible  (96″ wide) and 5 – Accessible (60″wide) as noted by the YELLOW section above.

All Handicap parking areas should provide a non-obstructed accessible route (cross-walk) to the accessible entrance. The cross-walk should be a minimum of 3 feet wide. The slope of asphalt should be no more than 1:12 feet ratio.

All Handicap parking should be located on flat ground. The slope requirements are 1:50 feet for the access aisles adjacent to the parking spaces. The access aisles should always be connected to the cross-walk.

This is a brief synopsis of the requirements in which the ADA has set as precedence for parking lot latout. For a detailed analysis for all of your pavement marking & line painting needs please call a representative from Just Seal It LLC at 717-855-7775
